Hasan Piker is one of the most-watched political commentators of our generation — a Twitch and YouTube personality with millions of followers who tune in specifically because he doesn't sanitize his takes. At a moment when mainstream media has struggled to cover Palestine honestly, Hasan has been one of the loudest and most consistent voices calling out the human cost of the genocide, challenging U.S. foreign policy, and pushing back on the kind of both-sidesing that lets politicians off the hook. For a lot of young people, he's been a primary source of information on an issue that feels deeply urgent and deeply personal.

His influence goes beyond commentary. Heading into the 2026 midterms, Hasan represents something that campaigns and party strategists are increasingly paying attention to: the power of young, politically engaged audiences who don't respond to traditional media or traditional outreach. He's helped normalize political participation for a generation that's often written off as apathetic — and he's done it by being real about what's at stake.

As students at one of the most influential universities in the world — one at the intersection of technology, power, and ideas — we have a responsibility to lead on civic engagement, and that means taking new media seriously as a political force.
